Improve your future Warehouse Operations with MetaWMS.

Warehouse managers have been relying on legacy systems from older technologies to manage the supply chain. Unfortunately, these technologies are starting to breakdown, and it’s becoming apparent for the end-user. While the human touch is still very much needed when it comes to warehouse management, their efforts are more helpful elsewhere in the supply chain, particularly in the area of decision-making.  With so many technologies available in the warehouse industry today, it’s difficult to know which ones you need to effectively address your issues. The following are the technologies with the ability to make your warehouse operations more efficient.

Technologies

Mobile Computers: Most warehouse workers use and interface with mobile computers, which may be wearable, mounted, or handheld. When you choose a mobile computer, make sure it’s rugged enough to handle the hard warehouse environment.

Barcode Scanning: Barcode is very important, and you should look for scanners that have long-range scanning of reflective labels. 2D barcodes are becoming more common, and imagers are becoming increasingly popular because of this.

Wearable Computers: Wearable computers are increasing in popularity, due to the fact that they use voice technology such as speech synthesis and recognition to allow workers to communicate with the Warehouse Management System (WMS).

Labeling and Printing Solutions: Efficient and accurate label printers should be widely deployed throughout your warehouses to create a variety of case labels, pallet labels, and shipping labels. Most label printers are stationary and positioned at the end of packaging lines

Licensing plating: License Plate Management (License Plating) provides users with the ability to track and generate labels to reference entire pallets, boxes, crates, and containers that contain mixed items or mixed lot/serial numbers. Also, license plate barcodes are easily printed directly from handheld devices and can be used for picking, receiving, movements, consumption, and shipping.

Pick: WMS enables warehouse workers to create a pick from the released order. Pick is managed from a separate user interface when shipping items in an order-by-order environment.

Put Away: It enables warehouse workers to create a put away from the released order. Put Away is managed from a separate user interface when receiving items in an order-by-order environment.
