{"id":16,"date":"2014-03-27T01:49:00","date_gmt":"2014-03-27T01:49:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogtest.com\/?p=16"},"modified":"2025-10-22T12:58:08","modified_gmt":"2025-10-22T12:58:08","slug":"time-to-upgrade-your-dynamics-crm-microsoft-dynamics-crm-2013","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.metaoption.com\/blog\/microsoft-dynamics-crmmicrosoft-dynamics-crm-consultant-blog\/time-to-upgrade-your-dynamics-crm-microsoft-dynamics-crm-2013\/","title":{"rendered":"Time to upgrade your Dynamics CRM: Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;\">Time has come when you can rely and upgrade to the newer version of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.metaoption.com\/Services\/Dynamics-CRM.aspx\"><strong>Microsoft Dynamics CRM<\/strong><\/a> i.e. 2013.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;\">CRM 2013 has a totally different look and feel and features that you can explore and use to implement your business requirements in an easier way to the CRM system.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;\">Below are the introduction of new and improved features of CRM 2013 \u2013 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;\">Look And Feel:-<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;\">1) <strong>Tiles view<\/strong> \u2013 With CRM 2013 the ribbon view of the CRM has totally changed to tiles view i.e. instead of a fixed ribbon bar there is a floating tiles bar.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.metaoption.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/MO-Blog-Images\/MO-Blog-Images\/Untitled1.png\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;\">2) <\/span><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;\"><strong>Composite Fields<\/strong> \u2013 In <strong>CRM 2013<\/strong> there is a concept of composite fields instead of multiple fields e.g. instead of First Name, Middle Name, Last Name there is a single field &#8220;Name&#8221;. On clicking on the composite field a fly-out menu opens displaying the fields forming the composite field.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.metaoption.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/MO-Blog-Images\/MO-Blog-Images\/Untitled2.png\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;\">The composite fields are used for the address fields as well in entities like Account, Contact, Lead, Quote, Order and Invoice.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;\">Composite keys have been introduced with few limitations i.e.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;\">a. We cannot create our own composite control.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;\">b. We cannot directly add, remove or modify fields in the fly-out menu.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;\">c. Javascript can be used on events of the fields in fly-out menu.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;\">d. Setting the fly-out field values through Javascript does not update the composite field until you click in or out of the field or save the form.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;\">3) <strong>Business Rules<\/strong> \u2013 Using business rules we can \u2013 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;\">a. Add validations to the fields in fly-out menu.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;\">b. Set fly-out field values but it would not update the composite field value until you click in or out of the field or save the form.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;\">c. Set requirement level of the fields.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;\">d. Set visibility of the fields.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;\">e. Lock or unlock fields.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;\"> Using business rules is better than using supported or unsupported javascripts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;\">4) <strong>Guided Process<\/strong> \u2013 Now a process bar is visible in the UI in case of leads and cases to check the progress(screenshot of case process bar below)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.metaoption.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/MO-Blog-Images\/MO-Blog-Images\/Untitled3.png\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;\">5) <strong>justify navigation<\/strong> items associated with the record are now visible on clicking on the drop down arrow besides the record name in the page header \u2013 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.metaoption.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/MO-Blog-Images\/MO-Blog-Images\/Untitled4.png\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;\">6) <strong>Quick create<\/strong> \u2013 In new CRM quick create option is available from the form itself.
