Blackberry GPS Project

 About the Client:
Client is the leader in providing commercial moving and storing services to businesses in the Greater New York City Area. The Managers of this company are always on move. So, the Client wants a system through which he can connect with his Managers using Blackberry Devices and GPS (Global Positioning System).

Requirement:
Upon opening the Application on Blackberry Devices User will able to see his GPS Coordinates and Location. Then he will be able to send his position to a web service which will store this information with the Device ID. So, that Client can keep track of his managers. Also, Client must be able to see that data from the browser by creating a small website application which will display all the manager data and Client can view it from anywhere on any machine or mobile device which is connected to internet.

Our Solution:

Features Includes:

  • Display of coordinates on the blackberry device.
  • Display of current Location.
  • View current position on Blackberry map.

Metaoption provided solution with following features:
Created a standalone application which gets its coordinates (i.e. Longitude, Latitude and altitude) through GPS and displays the address information of that location. The user can then send this information to a web service which will store this result with device ID in database or text File. User can also view his position on blackberry map.

See Figure below:

Clicking on refresh button will refresh the position of the manager if his position is changed from the previous one.

Clicking on “Show address” button will display the location address.

Clicking on “Show data” button will send the data to the web service.

Clicking on “Show Map” button will launch the Blackberry Map with the current Location in the centre.

Also provided a web service which will accept the GPS coordinates and store it in the database.
